We are currently recruiting for the position of Staff Nurse at Castle Lodge, Kirk Lodge and Lochbank; Both day and night shift posts are available - Full time, Part time or Bank. You will preferably have experience of care of the elderly but newly qualified staff will also be considered;

RESPONSIBLE TO: Manager
REPORTING TO: Deputy Manager / Manager
JOB PURPOSE: To support the Manager in carrying out their duties and deputise for her in any periods of off duty or absence. Ensure that all Policies and Procedures of KCG are adhered to.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
1st Level Registered Nurse (Staff Nurse)
2nd Level Registered Nurse (Enrolled Nurse)
Able to Communicate Effectively.
Good Team Skills
Previous Experience in Care of the Elderly preferred.
To assist the Manager in the assessment of prospective residents and subsequently monitor the admission, care planning, evaluation and review of care procedures.
To ensure that all care as recorded in the individual care plan of each resident is implemented and recorded.
Carry out the ordering and administration of drugs within the Home as required and maintain the necessary records as required by the registering authorities.
To provide or facilitate emotional, spiritual and psychological support as required.
To provide medical supervision for the residents in conjunction with the General Practitioner. This will include arranging for the services of the Chiropodist, Dentist, Optician, etc. as required.
To maintain an atmosphere conducive to the best interests of the residents.
Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with resident’s personal and financial affairs and avoid abuse of the privileged relationships that exist with residents.
To provide adequate supervision of all junior staff on your shift.
Maintain regular and effective communication with the Manager.
Maintain effective communication channels with residents, relatives/advocates, staff and other concerned bodies. This should be achieved through personal contact, attending meetings and reading distributed minutes of such meetings.
In the absence of the Manager, liase with the Social Co-ordinator, Residents, Relatives and Staff in order to develop activities for residents that will enhance their quality of life.
In the absence of the Manager, liaise with Cooks/Assistant Cooks to ensure that the storage, preparation, cooking and serving of food meets the required standards.
In the absence of the Manager, liaise with the Housekeeping staff and Handyman to ensure all areas of the Home, inside and out, are properly cleaned, maintained and adequately heated.
Handle and record payments of fees as required.
Record the use of any petty cash.
Ensure that all staff are aware of and work within the terms of the Employee Information Manual.
Implement the Company Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures in consultation with the Manager.
Promote a positive personal/professional profile within the local community, ensuring the good reputation of the Home at all times.
Note any enquiries made to the Home regarding possible admissions in the enquiry folder and pass such information on to the Manager.
Training and Development:
Maintain personal professional development within the NMC guidelines.
Assist the Manager in staff training.
Health & Safety:
Ensure the implementation of the Home’s Health & Safety Policy and that Emergency and Fire procedures are carried out.
Adhere to all appropriate NMC guidelines/regulations.
Ensure all routines within the Home are maintained as per the instructions of the Manager and undertake general nursing work as required.
Ensure that all information of a confidential nature gained in the course of work is not divulged to third parties.
Maintain such logbooks and records as may be required by both the registering authorities and/or the directors of the Company.
Ensure correct records of the working hours of both yourself and all staff on your shift.
Ensure the security of the Home is maintained at all times as instructed by, or in the absence of, the Manager.
Assist in the arrangements for fund-raising.
